About Kayla
My dad used to tell me stories are like wild creatures. Once you let them loose, you never know what wonderful havoc they might wreak.
As one of the youngest participants accepted into the summer high school writing program, Iowa Young Writers' Studio at the University of Iowa, I knew I was destined to be an author.
After the pandemic, I was accepted into courses with Jericho Writers, Curtis Brown Creative, and Faber Academy, where I learned to hone in on children's and YA storytelling. Most recently, I was selected as a mentee by author Celeste Dador for WriteMentor's Summer Mentoring Programme.
Nowadays when I'm not writing, you can find me going to the movies with my IRL soulmate, drinking strong Turkish tea, playing video games, baking my world-famous pumpkin bread, or reading the latest YA fantasy, horror, or romantasy.
